The Babcock Mill was Built in 1856, this historic mill is a must-see when visiting Odessa in  all seasons.

The original site had 3 buildings.  One was a Woolen Mill that faced on to Factory Street.  The centre building was the Saw Mill. It was torn down around 1960.  The remaining mill, the “Babcock Mill” was a planing mill and basket factory, manufacturing the “Babcock Baskets”.

Enjoy the mini cascade, lovely bridge, and a picnic on the beautiful grounds

  1. Hello….I would like to learn more about this mill. My grandfather was a Babcock and lived a few streets away…..I vaguely remember this as a kid. Any references would be appreciated.

    • I just came across this beautiful place. My grandfather was a Babcock . Unfortunately he died before I was born, but my nana, his wife, Elva, would talk about Odessa and the Family Homestead in Elginburg. I would love to know more about this place as well.
